Pride and Joy

A few months ago, I  finally decided to upgrade my tv.

I had an old 27″ CRT that I bought wayyyy back when, circa 2002. It was a really big purchase for me. I was working in retail … which means I was broke. I didn’t have that much extra money for anything. The 27″ was on sale and I gave in and bought it. She was with me for the last 9 years, living in many different homes in countless cities — she’s been good to me. Here she is with Buttercup:

But it was time to kick the bitch to the curb.

TVs have been going on sale left and right. I could finally afford a flat screen! Yay!

I always told myself that if I was going to spend hundreds of dollars on one, I might as well go big.

So I did.

I went online, placed my order, and the new plasma was soon on it’s way from New Jersey to Los Angeles.

When it arrived, I found someone who would take the old CRT off my hands and I transported that heavy-ass thing for the last time. Here’s my new pride and joy:

I find myself watching more tv now, even sports. Sports! I never watch sports unless I’m at a bar. The picture quality is sooo much better! I really had no idea what I was missing.

And that’s it. That’s the story of how me and the plasma came together. Oh, and you better believe that I’m framing the picture of the map and placing it on my wall. I just got done printing it out. I’ll take a photo of when it goes up. Watch for it on my Twitter.
