Mateo Live at The Roxy - 10/20/11

If you didn’t make it out to The Roxy last night, you missed a great show. I arrived just in time to catch Dawn Richard tear shit up (yes, you DO know that name — Dawn was a member of Danity Kane).

Shortly after, Mateo took the stage.

He performed two of my favorite songs and IT WAS AWESOME. I recorded them on my phone, but the sound is distorted, so I’m not uploading them. But here, listen to the good stuff:

Get To Know Me

Doubt

If you ever get a chance to see your favorite artists at a small venue, DO IT. Hell, I’m trying to see as many local shows from my faves, Mateo and John West, before they blow up bigger…because they will.

Shows like this are what make me love being in Los Angeles.

Lazy Shopping

Lazy Shopping

Threadless had a sale and I needed some clothes, so I bought a bunch of shirts.

I’ve gotten way too spoiled with online shopping. It’s easy, I can usually find great deals, and I don’t have to deal with stupid crowds and LA parking.

It’s a win-win-win-WIN situation

The problem is that it’s the only way I want to shop now. Even when I do find myself in a store, I look things up on my phone because I’m determined that I can find a better deal online. Hell, I do find better deals online. It’s pretty much how I filled up my apartment after I moved into my own place.

It’s gotten bad enough that I need new jeans but am avoiding the mall as long as I can with the hopes that H&M will have some on clearance on their website.

Anybody know of website having a jeans sale?

Yep, those are my shorts on backwards.

Yep, I went outside like that.

I woke up late yesterday. Surprised that my dogs hadn’t yet had an accident on the carpet, I jumped out of bed, threw on some shorts, and me and the dogs were on our way outside for our morning walk.

I didn’t realize until halfway through our walk. We walked by people all dressed up and ready to go to work, and here I am half asleep with my shorts on backwards.

Way to go making your neighbors think you’re even more weird, Raych.

Oh, well. I don’t really care what I looked like. What’s important is that I didn’t have to clean up doggie mess in my apartment.

I Got Stuck On NKOTB Videos

D-O-N-N-I-E, the W, A-H-L, ah-to the B-E-R-G has spoken.

Let me just get this out of the way — yes, I like the New Kids On The Block. Growing up, I shared a bedroom with my sister and she loovvvvveeed them. And since she was the older one, she always had control of the radio which meant I listened to NKOTB all the time.

Yes, I’m trying to blame it on my sister.

Whatever. I like them.

I ran across a video for Jordan’s new video, Stingy featuring Donnie. Watching Donnie in this video …

… made me instantly think of Andy Samberg

It’s not just me, right?

Oh, and just in case you’re also a NKOTB fan, take a trip down memory lane with the video below.

OR, if you’re stuck on Spotify just like I’ve been, listen to it.

Pride and Joy

A few months ago, I  finally decided to upgrade my tv.

I had an old 27″ CRT that I bought wayyyy back when, circa 2002. It was a really big purchase for me. I was working in retail … which means I was broke. I didn’t have that much extra money for anything. The 27″ was on sale and I gave in and bought it. She was with me for the last 9 years, living in many different homes in countless cities — she’s been good to me. Here she is with Buttercup:

But it was time to kick the bitch to the curb.

TVs have been going on sale left and right. I could finally afford a flat screen! Yay!

I always told myself that if I was going to spend hundreds of dollars on one, I might as well go big.

So I did.

I went online, placed my order, and the new plasma was soon on it’s way from New Jersey to Los Angeles.

When it arrived, I found someone who would take the old CRT off my hands and I transported that heavy-ass thing for the last time. Here’s my new pride and joy:

I find myself watching more tv now, even sports. Sports! I never watch sports unless I’m at a bar. The picture quality is sooo much better! I really had no idea what I was missing.

And that’s it. That’s the story of how me and the plasma came together. Oh, and you better believe that I’m framing the picture of the map and placing it on my wall. I just got done printing it out. I’ll take a photo of when it goes up. Watch for it on my Twitter.

Tums

Out of all the foods that give you heartburn, was it really necessary to use the phallic-shaped one and have it slap goo all over this guys face?

I love how the girl covers her teddy bear’s eyes.
